Community Information

The quaint Hamlet of Millwood and it's larger neighbor, the Village of Chappaqua, make up the Town of New Castle. Millwood was originally settled as Sarlesville which appeared on 19th century maps also as Merritt's Corners and Rockdale Mills.

New Castle is a beautiful community set amongst lush rolling hills offering several public parks, outstanding ball fields, lighted tennis courts, a wide network of hiking, jogging and walking trails and also opportunities for biking on the North County Bike Trailway. Furthermore there are a number of private swim and tennis clubs and public and private golf courses.

It offers a little bit of everything for everyone. There are numerous activities sponsored by the recreation department such as ski trips, a free summer day camp, men's basketball and softball leagues, as well as women's sports of all kinds.

Shopping in the quaint village centers is varied and plentiful, there are a number of good restaurants, and even more specialty shops, culinary hotspots and entertainment can be found in nearby Mt. Kisco.

The area is easily accessible via the Taconic State Parkway, Route 117, Route 120 and Interstate 684. There is also convenient parking at the Chappaqua Metro North train station for all residents of New Castle. It is located 9 miles north of White Plains, and 31 miles from the middle of Manhattan.

The comfortable commute, the combination of understated sophistication with a dash of country flavor, and a lively schedule of cultural events and activities all make Millwood and Chappaqua very popular communities within Westchester County.

The Chappaqua School District serves all of Chappaqua and Millwood and has three elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.

Housing options within peaceful Millwood are plentiful and varied, ranging from urban apartments, well appointed condos and spacious town houses, from romantic hideaways and comfortable neigborhood homes, to scenic hilltop retreats and extraordinary multi-million Dollar estates.
